For quilting you'll want something that doesn't get jammed up with heavy bulky fabrics. I've used this Brother for quilting before (my sister owns one) and it's a nice machine for the price:
http://www.top-sewing-machines.com/review/brother-hc1850/2 If you can afford it, this Janome has been one of my favorite all-around machines and stitches as nicely as some of the commercial machines I've used: http://www.top-sewing-machines.com/review/janome-dc2012/9 If you buy from a store they will sometimes teach you how to use the machine, but if you buy online (at least through Amazon) they're going to be much more friendly about returns. As for the machine itself, there are a lot of great quilting machines out there - these are just two of my favorites for under $500. Hope this helps! ![]() |

I am brand new to this forum and can't wait to read the interesting posts. I've shared the link with our sewing group. We sew for missions and send children's clothing to several countries with our mission teams. We are presently making 1300 school uniforms for children in Haiti with the help of other churches in the Montgomery area. We are blessed to be able to use our sewing abilities for such a worthy cause while fellowshiping with one another. We're always looking for new sewers and helpers.

I made this tote bag this week and it is the first thing I've started and finished all on my own!
![]() pic taken on my Google+ so it isn't a very good pic It's a logo of my favorite team with baseball print lining the top of the straps. I didn't use a pattern for this or any directions - so far the best thing I've ever made on my own ![]() |

![]() If I'm not allowed to use this site because of my age please let me know and I'll delete but I just was looking everywhere for a sewing forum!Oh, and yes I am a Virginian (but I was born in Florida ;] ) |
