Does anyone know where I might be able to find a dress pattern similar to this?

https://www.smockedauctions.com/pre-order-winners-multi-color-chevron-dress/

Cute! I can see why you would like the pattern. It has great possibilities from cottons to taffeta and even chambray for a sporty look. To adapt another simple pattern would be very easy.

This pattern appears to have the bodice ruffle set into a seam. You could simply add it on top and continue it over the shoulder. That way both ruffle ends would be sewn into the waistline seam and it would give the back a bit more interest. If necessary, you could "borrow" a sleeve from another pattern, shorten or lengthen it.add a ruffle and you
are home free.  I would suggest that you borrow the sleeve
from the same size and brand of pattern you are using to
get the best fit when sewing it into the armhole. Good luck!

Has anyone used either? I'm currently using my mom's old Kenmore and am tired of fighting it all the time, so I'm looking for a new machine for my birthday.  I've semi narrowed it down to these two, but am in a rural area, so I don't have any dealers near by to go try out other machines.

Can anyone help guide me?  They both seem to have good reviews online, which is why I'm stuck.

I like my Night & Day Pants pattern because it always fits!  I really want my time spent to be worthwhile, so I like a pattern I know will work.  http://www.johnnymangoseed.com/collections/all-patterns/products/night-and-day-pants

Like the name says, I can use the same pattern for day and night--I just use stretch wovens and dressier knits for daytime and a variety of knits for night--so I'm always comfortable.

I seriously need to sew myself some more because I'm organizing my laundry around my only stretch corduroy Night & Day Pants!

Enjoy!

Yes, comfort is the big reason to skip the side seam.  They also are faster to sew-up with only one seam!

Another way to add comfort is to make your pj's inside-out.  I do this for thicker fabrics like fleece.

Or you could use a flat seam, like I do here:  http://www.johnnymangoseed.com/blogs/johnny-mango-seed-blog/6309848-pjs-for-kids

Enjoy!

Hey Everyone,

I am new to sewing, as I just got my first machine for Christmas. It is a very basic machine called the Singer Prelude. I have had no problems with it so far and have used it a lot. I have made several pairs of pajama pants and reversible winter hats. I usually use flannel and regular fleece with no issues. I needed black fleece to finish a hat I was working on and the only type they had at the store was a bit thinner and more stretchy than usual. Whenever I try to sew it together the loops are huge or the thread underneath gets all tangled together. I tried playing with the tension and have had no luck. My machine works fine with other materials it is just this one fleece! Someone told me to try and get a walking foot but I do not think they sell them for my machine (it has snap on feet). I am at a total lose and have been searching info for hours now!

Any advice on how to finish this project with this kind of fleece would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
