Designer SE problems

    Designer SE problems

Has anyone out there had any problems with their Designer SE?
I have had issues with loops on top and bottom of my embroideries among other things. Every time I went to the dealer they just had me try different things, I tried 4 different brands of stabalizers, different brands and sizes of needles needles, etc., etc.. I was finally led to believe that maybe I am to picky and since I am a perfectionist I believed them. Last weekend my machine burned up. I was embroidering and smelled a burned smell and now my machine does not work anymore. I contacted Viking and they told me to take it to the dealer which I will do tomorrow. But I was concerned that they said that if there is not a recall that I might have to pay for labor. So, just wondering if this has happend to anyone else out there.

I have had a similar problem. I was making FSL design and everything was going goos, then the machine sounded funny so I turned around (Puter and machine back to back) and it suddenly started making a whinig noise. Needle will no longer work (go up and down). It happened before and the belt had come off just like now I am sure. I feel that the reason it keeps happening is overheating. Just my opinion, BUT the machinewas VERY warm to the touch  on the back and on the side where the belt is run by a small motor of some sort,a plastic gear holds the belt on the shaft and if it got that warm I imagine the plastic might melt. The repair man fixed it the first time and there was no charge, But now it is happening again, last time he just replaced the plastic gear. This time I might insist they replace motor. I should not have the same problem twice in less then 6 months.
