How to get into a swap?

I have been hearing a lot about different swaps that happen and am interested in getting into some.  But I'm not really sure how to start the process.  Any thoughts?

I have the Swap Dex blog on my Google Reader, so every time someone posts a new swap, I know about it. Granted there are more than just sewing swaps..

Lots of crafters host them on their blogs, snoop around and check out links from other peoples blogs to find ones, I've listed links to lots of ones I am in on my blog, and I know most people do!
