Thread question

OK.  I know this is probably a REALLY dumb question... but I'm a newbie.  How do you keep your thread from getting caught in the little slit on the spool?  Every time I machine stitch, I have to watch it really carefully and fix it about 1000 times.

I have a couple of ideas ,  maybe one of them might be helpful.  What about turning the spool upside down so the slit is on the bottom?  Maybe you could use a small file and gently file down the notch.  If all else fails and you get desperate, wind an extra bobbin and use it in place of the spool of thread.

I have to admit, this hasn't been something that I've had to deal with so I'll be looking for other's advice too.

I think if you place the thread so that it comes off the spool underneath you should not have that problem.  Look in your manual and it should show you the correct way to place the spool.

        Hope that helps:)
