Quilt frame advice?

    Quilt frame advice?
    on: June 27, 2008, 07:25:22 PM
I've promised myself that this weekend I'm finally going to put my queen-size strippy quilt on the quilt frame.  (both the quilt and the frame took longer than expected to assemble).  In the past I've done smaller quilts I could just use a hoop for handquilting, so this is my first attempt at the frame.  I think it's a pretty standard, 3-rail frame, with the front and batting on one rail and the backing on another rail.

Does anyone have any advice before I get started?  I'm going to use the leader cloths the directions suggest, and try not to roll it too tightly, but has anyone had some trial and error they could share?  I'd really appreciate it.  It's been a lot of work so far.  I'd hate to run into problems after I've quilted half of it.

    Thanks!

I think the best think to do (after receiving practical advice here!) is to see a quilt on a frame. You will get a visual of what works best and where the pitfalls lie. I'm not an experienced quilter, but I married into a quilting family - AND I'm a visual learner! Cheesy
