I just wanted to add that Kinokuniya, the Japanese bookstore MarieGrace mentioned, is an international chain with a lot of brick-and-mortar locations (makes choosing a pattern book a lot easier than ordering online!). In the US, they have stores in NYC, Seattle, Portland (OR), LA, San Francisco, San Jose, and more.
