I want to learn to applique...I've never tried it and am wondering if anyone could recommend a tutorial or website where I could learn.  I don't really have the time to go to a class and thought I would try to find something online...Thanks for the help!!

      Sew, Mama, Sew has a great machine applique tutorial - http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=518 (part 1) and http://sewmamasew.com/blog2/?p=519 (part2 )
Not sure if this is wat you meant, but it is a great place to start.

are you referring to just applying applique to the top of something or applique quilting...

if you are applying applique to the top of something for embellishment, here is my process:

cut out desired object from fabric..
i use steam a seam 2 (double sticky) fusible and iron to the applique...
iron onto whatever you are wanting to embellish..(this is where you need the 2 sides of stickiness)
go around the applique w/your sewing machine using a decorative stitch...satin stitch will be your most common and easiest. blanket stitch is another popular choice...
        YOUR DONE...

I'm just learning too, and from practicing I found that using a thread that is the same color of the applique really improves the look of it. Have fun!
