Custom order waldorf doll and freebie

Custom order waldorf doll and freebie
    on: July 08, 2008, 06:24:48 AM
This was ordered for a little girl turning four on the fourth. I made her new dolly a little kitty to call her own just as a little happy birthday freebie!

    Thanks for looking!

Love them!  I think I'll have to look into making a couple of these for my girls.  What kind of fabric do you prefer for the dolls?

Its a cotton knit. You can order it by the yard from magic cabin or dancing rain dolls.com those are the best i've found. I made one for a friend's DD out of some beige cotton knit i found at JA's and it is pilling and not wearing nearly as well as my DD's doll i made from magic cabin. You can order all the supplies from either place. If youre just starting out though, i would suggest buying a kit with all the materials included along w/ a pattern.  It's how i started out and it was quite easy. Now that i make them to sell i've changed the pattern to make it my own, but its a good place to start if your making them for gifts. You can pick all the colors and everything- really fun! The instructions for the wig however arent for a full wig which bugs me a lot. They suggest making it like cabage patch hair-only on the top, or to be in a certain style always. I crochet a cap and then loop on the long strands of hair like a hook rug after the cap is securly on the head. This makes for a beautiful full wig and the one skein that comes w/ the kits os plenty to do this. HTH!

Thank you thank you!  I love kits when I'm learning something new.  Thank you so much for the tips!  I crochet, so I can easily do that wig method.
Off to shop for a kit!
