How does everybody keep their bobbins in order? It seems like no matter how many packages of bobbins that I buy I still never have enough! Am I alone in this??

You definitely are not alone in this. I've tried several ways to keep track of my bobbins. The best way I've found is to use a bead organizer that you can get at Michael's. It is box shaped and 2 inches high and divided into small sections - I think 24 in all. I think these cost about $2.

My boys like to play with my bobbins. It was driving me crazy that I couldn't find the 8 bobbins that I'd just bought - came to find out the boys were using them as hay bales in the back of their toy trucks. So now I know where my lost bobbins disappear to!

I was having the same problem, plus, I really wanted to keep my wound bobbins together with the thread.  I bought a June Tailer thread organizer at Michaels, replaced the short dowels the organizer came with, with longer ones (they easily popped out) and then was able to put each thread on a dowel with a bobbin on top.   If you're handy with a drill, my mother-in-law has a bobbin organizer made from a simple piece of wood and some wood dowelling.  Simply drill holes in the wood, cut the dowelling to a good size,  and pop the dowelling in.  The dowelling is high enough to hold several bobbins and then they never go missing.

Great ideas. I knew there had to be an easier way than a case that cost $25!! Too funny on your kids having them playing with them. I will probably find a bunch of bobbins one day when I'm looking for something else.

This is something I've been looking for too.

I've been searching EVERYWHERE for this Craft Locker Bobbin Box but haven't found it *anywhere* ... It's unclear if it's even still being made.  I was thinking a mid-size cone rack from June Tailor would be a decent alternative but I would really rather have a case to protect thread from dust ... and toddlers.  A friend bought me a Sukly Slimline box from JoAnn's to see if that would work... but the bobbins won't fit over the pin.  Sad

So, I guess I don't have a solution yet.  I wonder why more companies don't make boxes that store your bobbins with your pins.  Huh

My Bernina came with a little organizing box with my bobbins. You can buy extra shelves for it. I found after switching machines though, I really only need 5 bobbins.

Before that, I used a plastic case specially designed to hold bobbins. I don't have a good photo of it, but you can sort of see it in the lower right. I don't really need it anymore, but I fear shipping would cost more than the value of the box. It was only about $8 Australian, which means it should be about $5 in the US. It worked great though! Maybe you can find one?

With so many LOVELY colors of thread out there, it seems like my sewing dealer knows me by name simply because of all of the bobbins I buy.  It seems like I'm at a point where I have enough bobbins that I empty one before I need another which is nice.  Currently all of my thread is "organized" in one of those clear plastic scrapbooking toolboxes.  The top tray is where I keep the bobbins and the spools are below in the bin portion of the box.  This is a pretty good solution.  It keeps things contained and I have yet to lose a spool of thread or a bobbin--though I HAVE managed to lose a pair of really nice embroidery scissors and the seam ripper I've owned since I was 10.  Perhaps my actual sewing tools need to have a place of their own...

Those Handi Bobs are pretty cool.

I bought an art bin thread box at JoAnn's.  The bobbins slip over the prongs, and the thread goes on top of the bobbins.  Works great.  Smiley  They have two with the thread trays -- a "Sew-Lutions" box and a Thread Box, which is quite a bit bigger than the Sew-Lutions box, but I liked the latches on the Thread Box better (I have a curious toddler at home).  The best part is that the boxes are 50% off this week.

I use a Bobbin Saver.  One for my polyester thread (a red one) and one for my cotton thread (a purple one).  Best thing EVER.

I usually throw it in the same ArtBin box that I use for my thread.
