    plastic coating for cotton fabric

I am trying to find someone who coats cotton fabric with a plastic coating on one side. I live in the San Diego area. Does anyone know how I can locate a company that does this?

Do you mean PUL? The only way I know of to get short cuts done is through a co-op. The company that actually does it is Fabrite. But I think they willl only do huge yardage. I am trying to think of the yahoo co-op that does it, maybe you can search for it, try searching DIY PUL. The group is This End Up, you send in your yardage, the co-op mom sews it together with other people's yardage and then sends it in to the company. I've never done it but the group has been around a while and has a good reputation. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/This-End-Up/

You can also buy iron on or stick on vinyl from Joann's. I got some and would only recommend it for things that are going to stay relatively flat, like placemats or bibs. I tried it for a diaper bag and while it worked I was not entirely happy with the results, it does not recover from wrinkles well.

      Hope that helps.

Check out this post from Wise Craft about using a standard laminating machine to plastic-coat fabric:

Do you know if the laminating at Kinko's makes a really stiff piece or is it still floppy like contact paper would be or floppier still like PUL? Personally I would be more interested in something that waterproofs while retaining the flexibility of fabric. I don't know what the original poster intended for her project.

I'm also curious about this...I'm getting tired of the paltry PUL selections available online, but I'm not sure I have the patience to wait for a Fabrite co-op.
