Anna Maria Horner Socialite Dress

    Anna Maria Horner Socialite Dress

    Hi all,

I'm making this dress for a wedding, and it's the first adult sized garment I've made. So I did a muslin first. Everything came together beautifully, but the largest size is still a bit small in the chest. I'd like to alter the pattern slightly, but I'm not sure of the best way. My go-to sewing book only shows how to alter a bodice pattern piece and has nothing for a one-piece dress.

    Any suggestions?

Here's what the dress looks like: http://www.flickr.com/photos/annamariahorner/3084273015/in/pool-amsewingpatterns

    Thanks!

Hmmmm....well, what about just adding a bit to the sides in the chest area.

If it is tight toward the top maybe extend the places where it joins the yoke and just gather it a bit more so it fits to the yoke piece but gives more room for "filling it out".  Tongue

I agree with MegVS. That should fix it. Thats one beautiful dress pattern. I want to see yours when you are ready to show it.

Thank you! That's a great idea. I bet that will fix it. And yes, it's such a great pattern--very easy, too!
