    Sewing Magazines

I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone had a favorite sewing magazine and can tell me where I can get the subscriptions.  I have been looking for one and was a subscriber to Sewing Savvy, but they stopped making it.  Thank you and I look forward to reading the posts on the forum.  Thanks Angel

I really like Stitch, but I don't think they are doing them monthly but seasonally.  Both issues have been really great with lots of fun patterns.  You can often find them in fabric stores or bookstores.

Threads magazine has great articles for both beginning and advanced sewers. Always inspirational!
I also love Sew Beautiful, but that usually has a fancier sewing focus (although the most recent issue has a classic woman's panel skirt that could be dress up or everyday).

I love Threads, too. It's inspiring and full of great ideas that urge on the creativity in me to go for it and try some techniques I'd otherwise chicken out of using.

Also from Tuanton Press is Sew Stylish, a new publication from the same group as Threads that is not as advanced, but still just as inspiring.

Check out the magazine section of Super Wal-mart. They have Threads, Stitch and several other sewing related magazines.  all of the magazines have subscription card in them.  You can see if you really like the magazine before you suscribe to it too and find which one fits your needs and interest the best too.

If you have a Borders or other big bookstore near you, they might carry them.  They usually have a ton of craft mags.

I really like Ottobre.  It is a magazine from Finland....but they publish English versions as well.  It is stocked FULL with patterns.  I currently only subscribe to the one for children, but they also have one for adult clothing.  I subscribed online and the issues came REALLY fast in the mail.  I was impressed coming all the way from Finland.

I like Pochee and Cotton Friend magazines.  They are Japanese, which I don't read/speak, but they are great for inspiration and they have directions which you can figure out by using the pictures.

Has anyone ever seen Ottobre in a brick-and-mortar store?  Or do you have to subscribe?

I also really like Stitch Magazine.... it has lots of interesting projects from unique bags, to fun home decor and even fashions. It is printed by Interweave press, and you can get back issues rom thier online store:
                                http://www.interweavestore.com/store/p/2846-Stitch-Spring-2009.aspx

You can also buy its at JoAnnes - which is where I get it.

                                It is published quarterly.

                                Hope this helps!
