Would like to find more sew-alongs

I am interested in finding some sew-alongs for women's clothing.  I have a couple of things that I really, REALLY want to try....like Amy Butler's Cabo Halter as well as this dress from Weekend Designer:

and I also have Amy Butler's Weekender Bag that scares the begeebies out of me. I do have some decent sewing knowledge...but just haven't bailed off to tackle these on my own.  I think that with a Sew-Along, I'd jump right in.  Anyone have suggestions for where I could find something like this or at least a group that I might suggest these patterns to for upcoming projects?  Thanks!  Kimberly

Thanks for posting about this I am a newbie to SMS and i completely agree that sew alongs are great very motivational.
So i hope that i participate in one and will search around to see whats available

Maybe somebody will do a few summery sew  alongs. It would be fun to do a adult summer top & a girl's or boys one.

I owld love to see one for a bag with options. My bags are all wonky. I am the only one that sees it, but a sew along could really help.

I would love to do the Amy Butler Halter.  I have looked at it several times and thought of trying it.  I am more of a crafty sewer and have only made a few skirts for clothing.  Some talented organizer needs to get it going.

I never make clothes for me but a sew along might be what I need ! I really want to make something that I can wear & look professional.

no reason we can't start our own sew-along is there???  I'm little more than a newbie but I'd be happy to "host" it...anyone in? 

I'm turning in now but will definitely check in here in the morning.  I just started a new blog and it will be "done" with the enhancements in a couple of days but I can start posting there.  Also, I can start a flickr group.

great.  I guess I need to go look at one and see how they set them up. LOL.  I'll start working on it.

I've been trying to get my new blog up and running today.  I had an older one that I used when I was in the adoption process (adopted twice from China), but now that my focus is off that as I feel my family is complete, I wanted a new blog.  what a pain!  I just want to sew, not try and figure this techie stuff out, but anyway, it should be done soon.

I happened to order two patterns last week for tunics but they haven't arrived yet. ...I'm always making tote bags, purses, etc.  What do you think our first project should be?  should it be something to wear?  something for the home? 

would starting on next monday be too soon?  that'll give everyone time to pick a pattern and get the material? 

let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions.

hi everyone,

I got my new blog going...kind of simple, but it'll do.  I thought it would be easier to do this with a blog but I'm all set to start on Monday for a new sew-along.  anyone interested?  I thought we'd start with something to wear.  I'm going to make something simple, a tunic/top/shirt. ..I'll post my pics each day to the blog.  I still need to do the flickr thing, haven't set that up yet.  I'm excited, I think this will help me stay motivated.  I'm terrible about starting projects but not finishing them.

Rita - I checked out your blog and it looks like you're off to a great start.  I am going to work on setting one up also.  I am off work today and my plan is to get things set up on the computer.  Blog, etsy, etc.....  The picture of your girls is adorable.  For the sew along, I think I will make a top.  Irene has started a skirt sew along, so I will need a top to go with my new skirt.  A very simple top.  I am just now getting into making clothes.  I have been a craft sewer for a while so I am excited to make clothes.  Anyway, I will have a plan by Monday.

that sounds great!  can't wait to see how your top turns out.  I'm like you, I've mostly sewn for my girls and not myself, so this will be something new. good luck to us all..
