There are so many cute sundresses and playclothes for baby girls. Can anyone tell me where i could find a basic pattern for short overall type (similar to sundress) with over the shoulder straps that button to the front for a baby under one year (or even older?) i would really like to utilize some of the cute new fabric such as red letter day for my new grandson.

I'd love to learn about more baby boy patterns as well.  I've got 3 girls but just added a baby boy to our bunch and would love to make him things like I do for his sisters!

I hear you on the lack of cute boys patterns.

I did just make my little guy an Oliver+S playsuit from the Tea Party Sundres, Bloomers, and Playsuit pattern. They turned out super cute! The playsuit doesn't show up on the front of the pattern, but if you look at the enevlope back, you'll see them. http://www.sewmamasew.com/ccp0-prodshow/PTOSTPB.html

Here's a photo (assuming I did it right). I've never posted a photo on this forum before.  Wink

It's a shame that there is so few cute patterns for little boys available! I found a few good ones from simplicity, but very few.

I found a really good pattern for a boy's shirt and pants  in Weekend Sewing by  Heather Ross and some cute projects in Simple Sewing for babies.

              Good luck!

Amy Butler has an adorable book on sewing for babies and there's some cute kimono-style jammies in there.  I really wish there were more patterns for boys who are a little bit bigger!  I have a kindergartener and it seems the clothes are either ridiculously formal (like for sailing on a yacht--like that will ever happen), or same old pants and tees.

I have a toddler boy and I've been making clothes for him since he was born.

                      Two of my faves are:

                      Butterick 6030 http://www.butterick.com/web/shop.cgi?s.item.B6030.x=1

                      And McCall's 4644 http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4644.htm

I've also taken the Burda 9645 http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/patterns/sewingpatterns.pl?patternid=13944 (for girls) and changed them into little man jeans.

Here is a link to my little guy wearing his jeans: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tawnybee/3592531239/
