Amy Butler Sun Surf Halter Pattern

Amy Butler Sun Surf Halter Pattern
    on: May 29, 2009, 01:36:39 PM
    Hello,
Has anyone tried this pattern?  I searched the blog/forum and didn't see anything.  Just wanted to do a little research before I started sewing this one.  Thanks!

There are two other Amy Butler tunic reviews on SMS Blog which you might find useful:
      Lotus Tunic
      Anna Tunic
It's not the Sun Surf pattern, but they might have some general tips or advice for her tunic-like patterns.

i am also working on this halter. there is a good site that is helpful. they do not go as much into depth as the reviews here on SMS but it may help.

Thank you for the info!  I may try to make some changes so that it doesn't look so baggy.  Maybe making it a bit shorter will help??

I've got this one in the "queue" to sew up this summer too!  It looks simple enough.  I tried the Anna tunic after the cute one I saw here on SMS, but I"m just too busty for it.  I probably am for this one too.

The link above to pattern review has a LOT of information on it.  It can be overwhelming at first!  On the page that was linked, for example, if you click the "more" at the bottom of each review, you will be taken to an extensive review of the pattern by each individual.  Hope that helps!

I know what you mean.  I feel like there are SO many adorable summer tops out there to make and very few of them allow you to wear a decent bra.  I hate strapless bras, and since going braless would take women's liberation to a whole new scary level, I guess I'm stuck not wearing these styles.  There has to be someone who is designing patterns for the bustier among us....I wish I knew who.

I actually made it and you would find my review at patternrview.com.  The pattern is great and very simple.  The sizing runs true also.  The ease is not in the bust area but in the belly area.  I made it to match my girls for fun in FL.  I love it with leggings since it is tunic length but if I make it for me again, I may sew a little larger side seams.  Here is my finished photo

I didn't expect it to be quite as baggy but I still like it.

I have been wondering about this pattern too. I wondered if I could make the back the same as the front and just tie it on the side. And I would want to make it a little more fitted too.
I am no seamtress so  don't know...
