pillowcase style dress pattern for adults/FUN EASY dress pattern?

I have fallen for a dress in a pricey catalogue that really just looks like an adult version of a pillow case dress. I have found tutorials for such but ask you to use "your favorite a line dress pattern".....which I don't have. I do not even have an A line dress I love to trace. Thus my need for improving my summer wardrobe. Can anyone suggest a pattern for this or a simple fun summer dress pattern that will help me. I hate shorts Cheesy.
thanks

Maybe do a search on ETSY....  I think I saw an adult version pillowcase top tutorial.... Couldn't you just lengthen it??  I'm still a beginner too, so maybe I am wrong.  I hope this helps! ~ Carrie

I did a search and found a page full of adult sized dresses and a couple patterns....  Have a great day! ~ Carrie

PS- I used "pillowcase top adult" as my keywords

Here's a tute. You can just make a opening in the center front where you want your ties to come through. Either turn it under & stitch or use a little bit of bias tape. Thread your ties begginning at the one side of the front through the shoulders & back through the other side of the front & tie. You are basically making an opening in the center front for the ties. You make it the length you want -dress or top.

has anyone tried any of those patterns? They look pretty cute... I'd like to see what they look like on a real person.

I have not tried them yet but next time I'm at Joann's I'm getting the 2  New Look patterns. They are inexpensive & they look very easy.

THANK YOU! The McCalls pattern 5617 looks almost identical minus the ruffle! We dont have a McCalls pattern distributer locally so that explains why I never saw it. I will let you know how it turns out.
