Baby Bloomers Tutorial

    Baby Bloomers Tutorial
    on: June 16, 2009, 03:55:01 PM
Does anybody know of an online tutorial that shows how to make baby bloomers (pretty much just panties, not the kind with full legs) that uses regular cotton, and not a stretch material?  I've found several tuts that are cute, but require knit fabrics, and I'm just not brave enough to try stretch yet!  Thanks!

If you've already found a pattern which calls for knit, I think you could use that same pattern with cotton.  Maybe just add a little to the side seams to make up for the stretch.

Ok, I didn't know that you could do that.  The tutorial said specifically to use stretch knits only. Thanks.

It's not online, but there's a pattern for bloomers in Heather Ross's Weekend Sewing.  Maybe you could get it from the library?

You can use wovens  like Irene said just add a bit to make up for the stretch.

Yeah, I had seen that.  I need to buy that book, there are a bunch of things I want to make out of it.  Flickr is bad for me, I see all these awesome projects and then I spend more money! Smiley

I've used a pattern I purchased from Parksbird Patterns http://cgi.ebay.com/_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ320395546325 off eBay for bandana bloomers. Very easy and the patterns were cheap. I also have the Heather Ross pattern; very similar and easy. I haven't found any free ones yet, but these two are great. Good luck!

In the last week I have made 6 (yes, six) of the Heather Ross "Ruby's Bloomers."  Yeah, you have to buy the book, but they come out so cute!
