Ball point vs. stretch needles

    Ball point vs. stretch needles
    on: June 16, 2009, 06:25:47 PM
Since the hot topic today is sewing needles,  I have a question.  I have ball point needles in my collection and I also have Schmetz stretch needles.  Are they the same?  Is one type for sewing T-shirt fabric vs. stretch jersey?  Hope I can get a few opinions on this- thanks.

Yes, I think there's a difference.  The stretch needles are more for the very elastic and synthetic knit wear whereas the ball point are more for your cotton knits and t-shirt fabrics.

Irene, I agree. Stretch needles would probably be just the ticket for swimwear fabrics.

I glad that I just learned the difference too!! I need to get sewing knits but just keep putting it off & I never thought of the difference of those 2 needles.
