Do you prefer a flat sewing surface or having your machine on top of the table?

I don't have the room at the moment to have a flat surfaced table...my machine and my serger are both on a card table which is fine for now but at some point I really need an upgrade.  I don't know that a flat surface would make much of a difference for me except when I'm quilting which is not terribly often.  I do like the idea of a flat surface and I'm sure I'd like it  a great deal if I had it.  I'd love it for serging--I feel like my serger's bed is really tall.

I finally found the cord that connects my camera to my computer, so I've got photos of my table and it's mini me.

Would uploading them to flickr and then just linking be easiest?

Yup - upload your photo to flickr.

Click on the photo then choose 'all sizes' from the icons on top of the photo

Scroll down the page

Copy the Grab the photo's URL from the rectangle box.

paste it here. THEN - highlight what you have just pasted and click on the insert image icon above (second line - second icon over - looks like a rectangle with a teeny tiny landscape in it).

NOW - your photo's url will have /img around it.  Click on Preview below just to make sure you see the image and Voila!  You're done.

I really think sewing on a large flat surface is much nicer.  You should try it out if you haven't had a chance yet.  It's amazing how much of a difference it makes- and I'm not just talking about quilting. It makes sewing clothes as well as home dec items easier as well.   
I started out sewing on a table for years, then got my new machine which did not come with a table.  I never knew how good it had it!

I feel that a flat surface makes a variety of projects easier. I have a table with a recessed compartment (which looks something like this) and it works great for me.
