Input needed...looking for heat resistant fabric

Greetings!

My boyfriend has tasked me with making a new cover for his snowmobile hood out of mesh and another (yet to be determined) heat resistant fabric. The fabric will be covering parts in the engine compartment that get very hot and I don't want it to melt. Does anyone have any recommendations on what type of fabric would work for this purpose? I'd like it to be as lightweight as possible (nylon like?) as that's the purpose of converting his hood from its current state to mesh.

The first thing that comes to mind is insulbrite thats used in potholders but thats not lightweight.I don't know but I think all nylon types will melt.

I've seen some light-weight silver stuff that is thin and heat resistant.  You might want to try a google search to try to track some down.  I think it's called Therma-Flec or some thing close to that.
