Basic pajama pant?

My daughter has been watching me sew and has expressed an interest in learning. She loves those basic pajama pants with a drawstring. I was thinking if she made a pair for herself it would be a great experience. Any suggestions for a good tutorial or pattern?

I considered making a pattern from a pair she has, but thought following a pattern/tute would be a good part of the learning for her.

There is a pajama pants pattern in Amy Butler's In Stitches book ... her patterns usually ahve really clear directions.

There is also a pattern in Sewing Green that uses either a flat sheet or material to make the pants. This is my first time using a pattern (embarrassing at 24 years old, I know) but its been rather easy for me so far.

I used the Simplicity Sew Easy patterns for both adults and kids pajama pants for Christmas Presents last year.  We made them in a variety of sizes, but did get a seperate pattern for kids and adults.  If you don't have a Joann's or fabric store near by, they also carry them at Walmart.  Good Luck.

This is what I used for my pj bottoms when I was learning to sew. I would recommend them for beginners. They really are very easy.
