Making pillows.. what thread to use?

Making pillows.. what thread to use?
    on: July 11, 2009, 06:48:53 PM
I bought some decorator weight fabric to make some new couch pillows. I will be machine stitching them, and just wondered what kind of thread to use? I didn't how how thick you could go with thread in a machine...

I've never used any heavy duty thread for couch pillows (even with upholstery weight fabric).  I just use the regular all-purpose thread I use for most projects.

I agree. Regular all-purpose thread should work fine with home dec fabric.  Now, if you're using the really heavy upholstery fabrics, you might want to consider a heavier thread.  I've used both Dual Duty xp Heavy by Coats & Clark and Gutermann's heavy thread and had good results both.  I used a #16 needle with both threads.

I always use a #16 needle & Coats & clark dual duty for heavier fabrics.
