This is going to be sew much fun Grin.  I am getting excited reading all the posts.  I can't wait to see what everyone is going to come up with.

I am in too!  Just got back from vacation and I have no clue what I'm going to do yet but I have tons of time to figure it out. Right?  Okay - need to go through stash or (drat) might have to hit a store and shop.   Grin

Oooh- I am in.   I have already made 2 skirts this summer out of Sew What Skirts and am now eyeing the vintage tablecloth project.  I have a pink linen tablecloth from my grandmother that is just begging to be made into a cute skirt for me.

It would need to be lined, though, and that's something I haven't tackled before.  Has anyone put a lining in a skirt?

Yes, so easy, I much prefer to line than make facings. I just cut it the same as the skirt pieces and put it together the same but use a tiny bit larger seam allowance. This makes the lining just a tad smaller than the fashion fabric so that when you put the lining inside the fashion fabric it will fit nicely. There are different techniques depending on how the waist of your pattern is finished of course but it's really not hard. I like to use a lighter weight but something that has similar feel and drape fabric as the lining.

Does anyone have good resources for how to do linings?  I have a couple fabrics that would be beautiful but sheer skirts.

The momentum for this sew-along has almost pushed me to commit!  My other neglected projects are holding me back but I've definitely had skirts on my mind . . .

Ok, I'm in!  I just couldn't resist.  I'm making the reversible wrap skirt from the SMS tutorials.  So far I've cut my pieces out and am just moving to the next step.

              Thanks for the idea Irene!

I'm in.  My first Sew Along.  My first skirt too (for me; have done little girl sizes for my niece).
I've wanted to make a skirt and just haven't gotten started.  Thanks for the push!
Have some fabric.  Will find a pattern next.

I'm not sure if I'm even posting correctly - this is my first post on this forum! I'd love to join. I'm sewing an a-line skirt from a pattern that I just drafted. Keeping fingers crossed that it works out. More updates soon!

I'd love to join.  It will be my first sew-along.  I've made two skirts for myself this summer and one for my sister-in-law's birthday.  I have found an easy bias cut skirt pattern and it really takes no time at all, now which fabric should I use?

I finished mine!  I didn't expect to do it so quick but my husband took the kiddos out over Saturday morning and it went together really fast.  Where do you want us posting pictures and stuff?

Oh, and if you would like to share any tips or quick pattern review, that would be great as well.

I would like to join in - I have a piece of fabric that I bought 6 weeks ago to make into a skirt so this hopefully will give me a push to get it done! I am going to use an existing skirt to make a pattern for a simple A line but I want to add pockets as they are a current obsession of mine!  Smiley

I just got home from vacation, but I am in...I've been wanting to make something for myself for awhile.  I'll look at patterns and fabrics in the next day or so and get back to you...I'll catch up!!
PS  Had to send my machine off for repairs before vacation and I got to unpack it and set it up today!  Yea!!!!  It's kinda like getting a new machine all over again (cross your fingers that everythign works right for me, please!!)

Just what I needed... something to kick me into gear on my summer skirt.  I keep getting distracted, but now I am ready!
I have a traced skirt and some lovely fabric from Heather Bailey so I think I'm ready.
