Hey, I started last night!! This is not the skirt I meant to make for the sew-along,  Roll Eyes but it is one I've been wanting to do for a while, just scared to cut this fabric. I want to finish it today, best for me to not let it sit too long.

I finished mine! Sorry the pic isn't great I had to use my phone and it was so hard to get a photo 'cause the slightest movement ruined everything! (the digital is broken)

This is exactly what I need!  I bought Favorite Things Hip pattern last week for MY birthday to make my first skirt for me Smiley  Hopefully I can pick which one to make and cut it this weekend.  Please count me in!

Ok I got my skirt pattern.  I borrowed it from a friend. Simplicity 3796 view E

This same friend cleaned out her fabric stash and gave me a lot of fabric and one of the pieces will be great for this skirt. It is some plain linen and this will be a nice everyday type of skirt.  I'm looking forward to making this but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. This will be the first piece of clothing I've made for myself.  When it's done I may add some hand embroidery to give it some interest.

I can't wait to see how the simplicity skirt turns out!  I bought the same pattern  when the $1 pattern sale was going on.  I have yet to make a skirt for me but thanks to the sew along, I've got a push to do so Smiley

I'm still so behind (catching up from vacation can be harder than going, you know...) but I will pick out my pattern & fabric and get it cut out this week.  Just have to sew a baby quilt first.  But it's cut out at least...

I'm at a standstill. I measured. Re-read the directions, re-measured. I may cut fabric sometime this week!

Thank you very much! I actually need to take the waist band in a little... but it still looks good.

No I didn't use a pattern at all Cheesy

Has anyone else made the cute skirts pattern I am making the simple gored skirt and have stopped at the waistband. My question is this, does only the back have elastic and what length is the elastic to be cut?? I guess every other pattern I have made gave specific directions this one does not. There are drawings/schematics but they are a bit confusing, to me it looks as only the back of the waistband has elastic in the casing. Help please!

I have this pattern but haven't made it yet.  It is only the back with elastic.  As far as size to cut, stitch one and try on to adjust as needed for the other side and pin in place.  Stitch when you get the fit you want.  I do that with all patterns that need elastic, even if there is a size guide.

Thank you for your help. Yes, this is what I figured the directions sometimes aren't very clear. I went to sewing club yesterday and showed the shop owner and even she said it wasn't clearly stated in the directions. I am hoping to finish it tonight if I don't go on the boat or to the fair today  Smiley
