Summer Skirt Sew-Along

My finished skirt! Made from Sew What! Skirts. THis is the first thing I've made for myself of clothing.

 

Great skirts ladies!  I love hearing about the background of each skirt.  There's always a story.
For my skirt, if I'm not using my serger which I didn't in this case, I simply use my pinking shears and cut about half of the half inch seam allowance off.  This reduces the bulk and keeps the seams from fraying.  I prefer a serged edge, but thought to go without since others in the sew along may not have one.

Great skirts, everyone!  I have got to get mine done.  Uniquety, if you click on the "Look What I Made" heading on the forum page, the very first post tells you how to post pictures from flickr.  Many very nice ladies posted some very good directions.

Thanks for those who offered advice about seams... I've been afraid to just use pinking shears because I worried the fabric would still fray, but that's what I'll try next!

Kaye- Thanks for the tip about the pictures.  I knew I'd seen instructions on how to do it somewhere but I couldn't remember where.
Holly- the pleats weren't difficult. As long as you take the time to transfer markings from the pattern to your fabric you shouldn't have any trouble.

Wow ladies those are some very beautiful skirts!! I need to hang my head in shame as I have not even started! My garden has taken over my time & school starts on Monday-Yikes-I homeschool so I need to get in gear!

I have failed miserably at this sew along!  I haven't even cut the fabric yet.  In my defense, I did have a huge project that was due last weekend that I've been working on since July.  Still, I really wanted to do this one.  I still plan to finish it.  Is there anyone else still working or am I the last one?

I still have one to finish! I figure a month left to wear it huh? And there's always next year!

No, LolaJo....I'll be either the LAST or next to last to finish mine!!   It is waiting to be finished right next to the office chair I need to cover...sorry Cindy, I promise to finish and post to the Flickr pool soon!!!

Wow, I just found this.  I used to sew a lot years ago and my DD has got me going again.  I'm hoping a skirt for her counts.
