    Gifts for men?
    on: August 03, 2009, 06:18:34 AM
Hello Friends!  Does anyone have any good ideas or know of any tutorials for gifts for men?  I am not finding much out there.  I am trying to make most of my gift giving handmade, but things for men are just hard to find. Any ideas will be appreciated.  Thanks.

The only guy gifts I have received great feedback on have been super personalized embroidered shirts and a giant size crayon roll made of denim for wrenches.

I made a BBQ tool roll-up to keep all grilling accessories tidy...I posted it earlier this summer in "Look what I made" section.

If you want numbers/pictures, let me know...it might just give me the push to finish writing about it to post on my blog.  = )

BBQ Roll up would be perfect for this guy.  I just helped his wife make him a cover for his grill, so the tool holder would be wonderful.  Please Please post the info and how to.  Thank you so much.

boys are harder. . . big ones, especially:).  here are some ideas:

Handkerchiefs in a favorite color--make them double sided, or with a simple slight hem--add a little embroidery for fun.  My grandpa loved his--with Gpa, V and a fish--what I call him, his initial and something he loves.  For my father, I made one with Papa embroidered in my son's handwriting.  He doesn't use it, but it sits on his dresser caddy where he sees it every morning.

A scarf made from some manly flannel and wool is nice, too.  I used some flannel charm squares and backed it with fleece for my husband.

I've made big block quilts for my brother (10" blocks so they go together super quick).  You can stitch them on a diagonal or tie them.  I've also made a manly quilt for my husband out of strip blocks.

A fleece hat and mitten set is nice.

A set of pouches for all things techy.

A messenger bag (my husband uses his for his computer and work stuff).

A grill tool caddie might be fun for a guy.

Hmmm. . . you'll find some of these at my blog, http://bluebirdstudio.blogspot.com

Good luck.  I'd love to know what you make.

For father's day this year, I made my dad (who HATES to wrap presents) some drawstring gift bags made out of Christmas fabric.

Thanks Northernbelle.  I think this is enough info to get me going.  I will post pics when I get it done.

                          Hello friends,

Choose the gifts for a men is really a difficult task.I think the best thing that we give to a men is shirts, jackets and jeans and many other men's      accessories.

                          Regards,
                          Olivia

I made my husband a camo fleece sweater and knitted him a scarf to wear under his hunting coat (camoish looking). You can see those items on my blog http://sewmakecreate.blogspot.com/2008/12/handmade-christmas-part-1.html

I made some luggage tags for the traveling guys on my list.  I (loosely) followed this tutorial: http://www.skiptomylou.org/2009/11/09/fabric-luggage-tags/
