Ooooh! I am also a sewing "newbie" and am soooooo jealous of how great one of your first projects turned out! I think I am at about the same level that you are and I have tackled a bunch of Amy Butler bags but NOT the weekender - it scared the crap out of me. But now you have given me some friendly competitive drive to buy the pattern and start sewing - yours turned out beautifully! You should be very proud!

Beautiful!!! I struggled with my bag (Amy Butler), but I pushed through and I was so happy with my end result! The layers (the thickness) was the hardest. The double zipper was a job, too.

I am in the process of making my second Amy Butler weekender travel bag and decided to post step-by-step instructions.  The progress will be very slow because I can only work on the bag on the weekends.  But hopefully this will help those who are too afraid to tackle the pattern!
