square template

Since I don't know many people who sew, I don't know if this is an idea that is widely used or not.

My daughter has a friend whose mother quilts lap blankets and pillows.  She uses two different sized templates for her work  and rather than make them from cardboard, she has cut squares of plexiglas for templates.  She has mounted an old kitchen cabinet handle so she can hold it down tight to cut around it.  She put some hot glue squiggled on the bottom side of the square so it will help grip the fabric without slipping.

They seem to work really well.
