Rag dolls

    Rag dolls
    on: August 09, 2008, 06:47:09 PM
I have a rag doll pattern from a long time ago (just the pattern pieces and envelope). I lost the instructions, but was wondering if any one can recommend whether the embroidery of the face (eyes, mouth etc.) should be done prior to sewing the doll together, or after the doll is stuffed.
    Thanks!

Hi, well, if it were me I would probably embroider first. I think it would be easier to stitch before it is cut out. But I'm sure it's not impossible to stitch after your doll is sewn together. Although, I've drawn/painted faces after my dolls are put  together. I hope this bit if info helps.  Cool

I would definitely agree to embroider first.  However, there are those curved sewing needles that may make embroidering the face of the doll easier post stuffing.  Hope this helps!  Smiley

Definately first. I find if i wait until after stuffing the stuffing gets stuck to the embroidery floss and pulls out of the hole w/ the thread. A real pain!
