Brother NX 450 Q, help :(

    Brother NX 450 Q, help :(
    on: September 09, 2009, 11:27:22 PM
I just bought this machine and took it out of the box yesterday.  I started sewing with it, and started immediately having issues with my fabric getting stuck.  At the moment I'm using the walking foot that came with the machine to sew a washcloth, 1 layer flannel 1 layer terry cloth.  It doesn't matter if the terry cloth is up or down.  If I tried to do two layers of flannel with cotton batting between them, I have the same problem.  It happens on almost every corner.  I turn the corner just fine.  It does a couple of stitches and then it gets stuck in place.  I have to life the presser foot and swivel the fabric loose to continue.  It is driving me NUTS I am getting so frustrated.  I got this machine because my last one was a piece of junk and I just wanted to finish this project. Now I'm having a whole new set of issues.

    Please help.

I'm not sure if this will help, but I would try messing with the tension.  Try to loosen it a bit.  Also, if you can adjust your pressure foot, try to raise it a little as well.

I tried raising and lowering the pressure foot pressure and that didn't help.
I've messed with the upper thread tension as well.  I"m suspecting there might be something wrong with my walking foot.
I am going to mess around with the J foot tonight and see if I have the same problem.

Did you mean physically move the pressure foot up? I don't think I can do that.
