How would you wash this??

Hi - I recently made a custom birthday dress for a little girl. It is cotton, a poly blend lining, but also has tulle on the inside and then some satin ribbon and little beaded appliques. Her mom is wondering the best way to wash... I would say handwashing and hang to dry... please tell me what you think. I'll include a link. This is the "fanciest" thing I've done - and I don't want to steer her wrong. Thanks!!

I'm NO expert, but I agree that handwash/hang dry would be the best option for the dress.  I would also suggest she arrange the tulle while it's drying so it doesn't go flat or wrinkle.

I agree with the hand wash and hang dry.  You may also want to put a note so that she doesn't try to iron the tulle.  You never know what people will try.

I agree with all of the above, especially putting in a note about not ironing the tulle.

I hate handwashing, it always seems that I'm not doing it right. What kind of detergent do you use when you handwash?

Quite frankly, I refuse to handwash...even when I'm supposed to   I just end up putting it in the washer on the lowest delicate or the hand wash cycle.  I guess I'm lucky that I have a handwash cycle.  I also use either woolite or just a tiny bit of tide in the machine.

It could probably be machine washed on a gentle cycle, as long as the beads are on nice and solid.  hang to dry for sure. Tulle can be ironed on the lowest setting, or steamed. I always include care labels on my hand made clothes.  Most folks don't have a clue.
