I recently made a pettiskirt for my daughter but she won't wear it because it is black (anyone interested?) I ordered more fabric from afc in candy pink. I cannot find any satin anywhere that matches that color for the base. Any takers? Also does anyone have some advice on the ruffler foot. I have been gathering by hand because when  use my gathering foot to attach and ruffle at the same time it slightly folds the ruffle at the seam, is that normal?

I just got my fabric 2 days ago.
Hoping to start on one this weekend.
Funny I hope work doesn't call me end.
I would rather be sewing than making overtime Undecided
            What size is your daughter?
I bought 10yds of black chiffon and was hoping to make matching mother daughter pettis, for our upcoming cruise.
I was thinking black with white ruffle fluff (I don't have enough black fabric for two all black ones)
You could save me some time Grin
            Thanks Mike

The skirt is 15 inches long and has a 20 inch elastic waitband. It Looks like this http://www.oopsydaisybaby.com/Solid-Black-Oopsy-Daisy-Baby-Pettiskirt-with-Hot-Pink-Accent-Ruffles-_p_72.html. The ruffle is fuschia.

                  Here you go pompoms
When you are in the message edit window click on the icon in the 2nd row 2nd from the left
That will add a line that looks like this

                  Code:
                  [img]http://[/img]
I then add the location of my picture file so it looks like this

                  Code:
                  [img]http://michaelmartin.mystarband.net/image479.jpg[/img]
You need to upload your pictures to an online sharing site first.
My ISP provides 10mb of free web space so I put my pics there.

                  Hope this helps

By the way miecken77 I am still interested in your daughters pettiskirt  if you still want to part with it.

                  Mike

pompoms;  there's plenty of free sites, DropShots/Photobucket etc... Smiley

I am looking for a tip, I saw someoene mention that they use their ruffler for ruffling the nylon chiffon.  I have made the Pettiskirts previously with Shirring Elastic, but it weighs the skirt down something chronic.

So I bought a Janome Ultimate Ruffler... I Cannot for the life of me get it to ruffle the Nylon Chiffon, it just jams up or feeds it through but as soon as you pull it out the side it unruffles....

                        Any Help  ? Cheesy  TIA

                          Hi Tia,
Haven't checked tihs site for a few days... thanks so much for the information, I'll try and post some of the pettiskirts I made.

I have a Viking machine and I use the gathering foot,  and I have no problems at all making the ruffles. Maybe you can try the gathering foot if there's any. I know the ruffles look different compare to the one using ruffler foot.

Can someone answer a few questions about this for me?

I bought 4 yards of chiffon as per the instructions on Martha Stewart, will that be enough for a skirt for a three-year old?

Also, what is ribbon elastic?  I'm assuming I can just use regular 1" elastic, is that right?

                              Thanks!

You can buy a pattern for $15 at youcanmakethis.com.  Also, a blog I read called Grosgrain made one for a giveaway following Martha's tutorial, and she gave a few more tips and directions to make it simpler.  You can find her advice , including the best places to find the fabric for it here:  http://grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com/2009/02/blushing-buttercream-pettiskirt.html
