shortening shoulder to bust point

    shortening shoulder to bust point

I am short-waisted, but not all of it is between bust and waist--I also need to shorten about 1" between the shoulder and bust point.  Could someone tell me how to do that?  I'm assuming I need to fold the bodice pattern, which will also make the armseye smaller, which means the sleeve head also has to be shortened.  Do I need to drop the bottom of the armseye to recover the circumference that was lost in the fold?  If so, how do I do that? Wouldn't I also need to add that difference back in to the sleeve--how?  Maybe there is a better way?  Smiley  Thank you!  Miranda

I can't find a picture online for you but there is an easier way to retain the armhole shaping. Trace the armhole shape onto another piece of paper and cut it out. Fold out the 1"(1/2" horizontal pleat) across the upper bust and line up the armhole tracing making sure that the vertical stays parallel. You will have to adjust a bit at the shoulder and where it meets up on the side seam. Then you will be able to use the sleeve pattern as is. Although you may need to check the length of the sleeve. Hope that helps!
