Gathering on Serger

    I have read through and found some great info about using my new gathering foot on my serger.  It is working well but I have a question - does the top fabric (the one not being gathered) get cut as well?  When I run it along the guide, it doesn't go under the blade.  Should I adjust this in some way?  Also, is there any formula to figure out how much of each fabric I will need for it to gather up even?  Thanks for any help.

      It may help you to figure out the details. Personally, I haven't tried to gather using my serger, but I hear that it is much easier than you think.
