Rag doll!

    Rag doll!
    on: November 07, 2009, 05:46:08 AM
A one-of-a-kind, completely custom made rag doll and doll quilt I made for my niece's first birthday. Everything was improvised aside from the dress, which was based on the itty bitty baby dress from made by rae (http://madebyrae.blogspot.com/2008/04/free-itty-bitty-baby-dress-pattern.html).

The doll is made of unbleached muslin. Her shoes and hair are a brown twill and the lighter parts of her hair (highlights!) are kona cotton in sable. Her dress is Alexander Henry's Juicy Apples and Pears. The dress lining is a light pink cotton, as are her cheeks. Her face was freehand embroidered, and her shoes are appliqued, as are her cheeks and hair.

The quilt beneath her contains scraps from anna maria horner's good folks line, heather ross' mendocino line, and amy butler's martini dots and daisy chain fabrics.
