I am thinking about buying a in-nov 40 or 80.  They have a limited 25 year, but what do they really cover and has anyone tried to get something like a servo motor replaced?  I really want to buy just one machine and silly me i would like it to last long enough to pass it on to my kid.  A signer dealer today told me that just isn't how it is anymore.  I would like not to believe him.

I can only say I have no idea about how they handle warranty issues because my 30 year old Brother never had any! Which is why I went ahead and got another Brother and the old one is going to be passed on to Grandaughter.

I know most things aren't made as well as they used to be but I have had good Brother luck so...

My Brother drives me crazy.  Yes it has a warranty but mine is like 1 year and 1 month and I tried to get some "warranty" work done (the timing on this thing is never quite right, and the alignment is off and it pulls to the left, the needle threader has never worked for more than 5 minutes...etc) and I was out of luck.  I have the Innovis 900D, and I wouldn't recommend it.  For the $$ I'd rather have an entry level Bernina...

The best thing you can do is buy from a Dealer who will give you free support/cleanings/servicing.  Don't rely on the Brother warranty.

wow you have a machine that costs way to much to be "not quite right"  Their must be a brand out their that is still built with pride to last.  Someone just needs to tell me what brand that is.

I have a Brother (I'm in the UK and its called 3000 but I think in the US its called Ult3000)  I have had it serviced under warranty which was fine.  I've had it for 5 years and I use it almost every day.  It has never given me any problems and is running very smoothly.  I have had Brothers for years and i did pass one of my old Brothers on to my daughter who is still using it. The problem with the very modern machines is that they have a fair amount of plastic in them and this becomes brittle over time.  Also the computers date and for the most part can't be adequately updated (apart from limited add ons etc).  If you want a modern machine that does the latest things then you do pay big money and they do seem to have a built in shelf life - pity!

It is starting to sound to me like a mech machine is going to  be the only way to go.  I just hate having to do letters the free willy way.  What would be a machine out their that is still made from something other then oil?  I don't have a huge buget so I am trying very hard to find the right machine. Roll Eyes Huh
