Bible Cover

Hi everyone!
Hope all the Christmas preparations are going well. A friend has just asked me to make her a bible cover with a slot inside for notes etc., some way to keep it closed and a pen holder. The only tutorial I can find is keykalous on a journal cover or mr monkeysuit which has a pen holder at the front (she wanted one at the side)

I made three this year and couldn't find a tutorial either.  What I did was use a notebook cover tutorial, and just added an extra piece of fabric to make the pocket - I put mine on the outside, but it would be just as easy to add it to the inside.  To make the closure I sewed a long rectangle and inserted it into the seam to make a tab that goes across the opening and Velcros onto the other side.  The pen holder is a double layer of fabric sewn onto the inside flap.  I also used fusible fleece on the inside to give the cover some shape (this is especially important if the Bible is softcover).  I have photos posted here: http://www.sewmamasew.com/forum/index.php?topic=1519.0  I know that isn't as good as a tutorial, but hope that helps!

I know this thread is old, but I have a related question. I tried to make my own bible cover for my niece's baptism gift but I got frustrated and decided that because of time constraints, I should just by one. Has anyone purchased one before that can offer advice on where to buy it? I came across a website that sells bible covers but I would like to hear if anyone has bought for them before. Thanks for the advice! Also, if anyone can offer me a pattern for the next time I try to sew a bible cover, I would really appreciate it!
