where to start quilting

    where to start quilting

Obviously I'm new at this...when you free-motion quilt (meandering, I think it's called), where do you start--the middle of the quilt or one of the corners?  Do you quilt continuously, or can you stop and start if you quilt yourself into a corner?  Thanks much!

I start in one corner, usually the top left. I then work towards the corner that's closest to me, the bottom right. I slowly work back and forth down the quilt and haven't had any trouble getting stuck in a corner. If you do, I imagine you can simply quilt off the edge, cut your threads and start up again off the quilt in an open spot.
