I've made 10 bags using Elizabeth's (Oh! Fransson) "Plastic" pattern. They are all Christmas presents, but I want to keep them for myself!

I decided to make some for my mother in law because, well, read the blog post. So far I have made 12 but stopped there because I have other things to make. I’ve been trying to get this posted here for the past few days so I didn’t miss the deadline, but since it’s extended, hell, I might make more. So if I have 12 right now and I get the bonus chances to win, I have 4 entries already? Sweet!

Here are 10 of the 11 bags I made for the challenge.  I gave each family member one to keep in their car...

YAY! the challenge has been extended!  That's good for me because last week I asked friends from work to bring in food donations from their cubbards to put in the bags I'd made.  Here is a photo of 2 more bags filled with food donations and dropped off at The Salvation Army food pantry.  Since you've extended the challenge deadline, I should make more bags and ask more friends to fill them with food donations.

As I was leaving the lady at the counter asked, "do you want your bags back?"  And I was glad to see her expression when I told her the bags, too, were a donation.

Last year my mother gave me a bag of fabric from her basement.  It was fabric my grandmother had bought years ago.  Some of it was great vintage finds, but a good portion of it was plaid and I'm just not a plaid person.  What to do with the plaid?  Make shopping bags!  And, the Grocery Bag Sew-Off gave me a great idea!  Not only did I make five bags, but they are getting wrapped up and given to my mother as her Christmas gift.  These combined with the couple she has picked up in stores should give her enough to do a full shopping trip.  Yay!

By the way, please excuse the baby doll - I took this picture at four am this morning and I wasn't really paying attention to the surroundings.

These bags are not exactly cloth, but they are reusable grocery bags so I hope you'll count them.  Smiley

                        I made six.

I've made 8 so far.  I've also posted a tutorial on my blog for how to make these.  They are quite roomy - that's a large flat rate box in there!  I used a duvet cover that I got at a thrift store, and made all 8 bags for about $7!!

I used a modified version of the collapsible tote bag in the One Yard Wonders Book.  Super easy!!

                              I made six more!

The 1st three are for my mom - she arrive tomorrow. They are from an old tablecloth of hers that she doesn't use anymore.

The diamond pattern were for a friend. The are her 'colors'.
