quality flannel?

I asked this in another thread, but I think my question will get lost there...
How do you decide if flannel is of good quality--not the stuff that gets all stretched and threadbare? Also, any specific brand suggestions or sources? Thanks!

You could buy quilters' flannel - that is nice and thick. Ignore the label that tells you there is no need to prewash it, however - it shrinks a LOT.
Benartex makes nice flannels.

Maywood's Woolies flannel is great! It's super soft and thick.

I like to use Moda flannels. They don't pill or fade after lots of washes.
