White Rotary sewing machine question

    White Rotary sewing machine question

Do any of you have an old White Rotary machine?  I received one for Christmas and am thrilled!  My husband bought it at an estate auction for $50.  The cabinet looks like a desk - it's beautiful wood with three big drawers and a tiny drawer on the upper left.  Has built in pin cushions and spindles for spools of thread in the little drawer.  The top large drawer has a little shelf inside with the Good Housekeeping seal of approval on it and two little glass jars with Bakelite lids.  Those lids have a little swinging cover in the middle -- they look like ink wells but I'm not sure as they don't have dark stains in them.  Does anyone know what they are?  I think the machine & cabinet are from the 40's but I'm not sure.

I really lucked out!  The machine works and the cabinet looks like it was just made, it's in perfect condition.

I am happiest because it has a knee lever instead of a foot pedal!  I learned to sew with a knee lever machine at school and I'm excited to have one again!

Congrats on your new machine. I'm sure you'll love it more and more as you learn to use it.
I have a similar cabinet with one of those in little glass jars as well. I may be wrong, but I think they are used to store broken needles. This is what I've been using mine for and it works great!
