Anyone have a Babylock for Sewing?

Anyone have a Babylock for Sewing?
    on: January 02, 2010, 06:53:11 PM
I am an avid seamstress and I have a small sewing & embroidery business. I have embroidery machines--Viking D1 & BMP8--I have a good serger--BL Imagine. My Pfaff 'workhorse' is giving up the gears & my DH said to replace it. My preference has always been a Pfaff but my preferred dealer is with BabyLock. I've sewn enough to know that a good dealer is worth a lot.

I've not had a BL machine for sewing. Would anyone have some recommendations? I don't want another embroidery machine. I want something that will sew hours on end without having to be 'fussed with.' Good buttonholes--preferably with a sensor foot--are a must. I'd like something fairly heavy duty because I sew on denim and heavier fabric regularly. Guess I'd lean more toward a quilting machine, although I'm not currently much of a quilter. While I'm not opposed to a used machine, DH would rather I'd get a new one that's 'sturdy'. We're hoping to stay in the $12-1500 price range.

Any thoughts, opinions, etc. would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your comments & expertise!

There is a sewing machine meme thread that lists TONS of info on different machines.  I think on the blog they listed the different machines reviewed -not entirely positive though.

I have a BL Quest and love it.  My review of my machine is on my blog here:

      Hope it helps.  Beth

Thanks, Beth! I did read that thread & it was a help.  I keep coming back to the Babylock Quest so that may be the one I'm going to have to try out!

        Thank you for answering!

          Marci,
I have a Babylock Xcape, but I don't necessarily think its for the more heavy duty sewing. At least, I have never tried (being a beginner). I do love Babylock though. Good luck in

Thanks so much to everyone that took the time to reply & send information for me.  It has been a great help.  I've pretty much narrowed it down to a Babylock_____ something--Can't be sure until I try them out.  I plan to go in with a stack of denim and start sewing.

Thanks again for your wonderful help and the time it took for your to email.  I soooo appreciate it!
