True Love Contest

I made this for my daughter.  I printed a picture of us on fabric and used that for her card.  For the closure, I used velcro so that she can open it herself (18 months old), and so she isn't tempted to eat a button :-)
LOVE the fabric stamp tutorial someone posted above.  I used it, although my "postage marks" didn't turn out very well...apparently I can't sew a wavy line!

My came out a little off so I turned them and stitched and they came out cute. I also made them at night after kids were asleep so that didn't help(lol). I made one for each kid and plan to make a special one for hubby for later as we first met Feb 16.

Hello! I've been an avid reader of the SMS blog for some time, but this is my first foray into the forum. I went a bit off the beaten path with this one, and instead of creating a flat card to go inside the envelope, I created a little fabric brag book of sorts with pictures of my kiddos for my mom for Valentine's Day. Everything here - the book, the embellishments, and even the photos - is done with or on fabric (all of which was in my scrap pile - an added bonus!). I had tons of fun with it!

I posted pictures on my blog, as well.

I created this valentine card for my 18 month old son.  I wanted to design something bright and cheerful for this goofy little boy of mine!  I also wanted it to be fun for him in some way...not just fun for me to make!!!  He loves trucks so it was natural to include that part of him. I was excited to come up with this interactive dump truck valentine!  I know he'll have a lot of fun putting the hearts "in and out"!

Here's my Valentine for my husband, AKA "Cowboy".  He's been trying to sneak a peek while I've been working on it.  The envelope is from thrifted jeans; everything else, I already had!

Thanks for a fun contest, SMS!

I followed all the directions except I wanted my letter to be conversation hearts instead of a rectangular letter.  This first one is for my husband, but I'll make variations for my friends, family, birthdays, and special occasions.

This was very fun to make and not too difficult for a beginning crafter to try! :-)

I've really enjoyed everyone's sweet Valentines! Here's my last-minute entry, for my 5-year-old son. I used one of his drawings of the two of us and embroidered and painted it on the card. (I saw this technique for the first time last week at www.checkoutgirlcrafts.blogspot.com)

(Update: I know this is past the deadline, but realized I forgot to post a picture of the back!)

Everyone's entries are just darling! Holly, I absolutely LOVE how you used your son's picture. I am going to have to try something like that very soon!

When I saw these fabric cards I just had to give it a try.  This is what I came up with-

A faux suede envelope with a crochet edge and held together with a heart button.
                      Inside-

                      And then for the card-

I love owls, and I knew I had to apply one to my card.  It is times like these that I wish I had an embroidery sewing machine, but since I don't I stitched the writing with my machine using a narrow zigzag, and a close button hole width stitch.

                      Thanks!

oh my goodness!!  so many gorgeous projects in this forum.  I went a little off-topic and decided to make one for my sister's February birthday.  Here's one photo, and you can read more on my blog, thisismarzipan.blogspot.com.

Fun stuff! I made this one for my husband, and will also make some for my children for Valentines day.

I was afraid of not having enough room for all the letters, so I made math symbols, both for space and to honor the fact he was a math major.

Thank you for the fun contest! I've enjoyed all the lovely Valentine's entered.

I made two Valentines... one for my daughter and one for my son.

Each envelope contains a door knob hanger with their name on it. They can hang them from their bedroom doors or post them on their bulletin boards in their rooms. Each door hanger has heavy weight stabilizer in between the front and back layer to keep the name hanger stiff.

The front of each envelope is personalized by placing a stamp with their initials on it (I used steam-a-seam for the stamps).

Here are my contributions, just in the nick of time.  That is usually how I roll.  I made these for my daughters and husband.  They are a bit smaller than the tutorial, I made the card 4 by 6 so they can be framed.

                              Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

By a midnight entry deadline, I'm hoping you meant PST!  I had to take a few hours out for the Opening Ceremonies.

Here are the valentines I made:

For my husband (because lets just say the view on his way out of a room is pretty fabulous)

This is for my very clever son:

For my energizer-bunny of a daughter:

And finally, for my sister-in-law (I copied an Egg Press greeting card design that I just love):

Thanks for inspiring me to do these super fun homemade Valentines cards!!!
