Yay! I got a new machine!

Yay! I got a new machine!
    on: August 29, 2008, 05:13:26 PM
Well, new to me Smiley I posted a couple of weeks ago asking what the best machine for around $150 was, because I was asking for one for Christmas. Well, a dear friend of the family had to move into a retirement home, and she only had male (unmarried) relatives. Most of her stuff went up for auction, but there was a lot of stuff that she wanted my mom to have. One of which is her old portable Singer. It's a Style-O-Matic model 328, and she has almost all of the attachments for it. I know I said I wanted a new machine, but I am more than happy to have this one for now.

Does anyone have this machine? Anything about it I should know? Smiley

I don't have that machine, but I'm glad that you got it!  It is so much fun to get a new machine! Grin

        Hi Harley,
I have the same machine.  It was my mother's and has been mine for eons.  It's at least 50 years old, and I'm wondering, because I haven't used it in a while, if it's worth keeping.  Have you had any luck using it?  I know about 20 years ago I tried to find a replacement bulb.  It burns out after each use.  I need some feedback, please.  I am planning on altering clothing and using it to make denim dog toys.  THANKS!  =)

Although I don't have this machine, yay for you!  Getting a new machine is fun.  Maybe you could take it to a technician for a quick once over and stuff.  I know the the tech where I take my machine works on almost any brand, and is super knowledgeable.  And I think sometimes old machines are better than new ones (simpler, built to last...).  Have fun!
