Chicago-Far North

    Chicago-Far North

I'm a young sewist (20's) looking for other young sewists to start a sewing circle in the Chicago area. I prefer sewing clothing, but also sew bags/accessories and knit a little. Let me know if you'd be interested!

There have been lots of "looks", so I figure there must be other Chicago area sewers. Maybe an online sewing circle of some sort would work out better since Chicago is such a large area? Any thoughts would be welcome!

i would be interested in doing some kind of get together or online group like you suggested.  I also mostly sew clothing, but am interested in broadening my horizons a bit.  I live in the lakeview area of Chicago.

I too am a younger sewer (late 20's, mother of two little girls).  I love, love sewing children's clothing and am interested in sewing some things for myself.

I am in a northwest suburb - mchenry county and would be very interested in getting together with others in the area.

        Thanks!

I am an experienced sewer (age 31) and live in the Ravenswood neighborhood.  I had a small custom sewing business for about 7 years in Lake County and in Missouri.  I would love to get together periodically.  Anyone up for a fieldtrip to Vogue fabrics in Evanston?

I am available to help you on a project if you get stuck.  Feel free to drop me an email.  I work full-time in the Loop, but I love to be creative and sew.

I have a wide-variety of experience including pattern design, garment construction, slipcovers, accessories,
mending/refashioning, art quilts, etc. as well as experience with crocheting, some knitting, embroidery, etc.

I would be interested in finding people to sew with! I have only been sewing about a year. I make a lot of small stuff. Just started working on clothing and I also just started my first quilt. I'm 28 and live in Lakeview!

I am also in my 20s and live in Portage Park (NW side of the city).  I sew mostly handbags and home goods, and I would enjoy getting together, too.

I'm 24, and I live in Irving Park.  Lately I've been trying to get back into sewing, and I've been mostly working on clothing and home decor items.

It would be fun to have some kind of sewing get-together!

I'm so happy to see there are other people interested in a sewing circle here! i've posted ads on craigslist and etsy to get one started, but to no avail.

i'm a new sewer (only becoming serious within the last year) who has been dabbling in every type of sewing while i work on technique, but am mostly interested in bags and clothes. i live in the logan square neighborhood but work in andersonville.

I just heard about SMS's forums for sewing circles, I'm so excited to meet other young sewers in the area who want to get together. I'm 31 and live in Edgewater and have been sewing fairly seriously for about a year now, mainly clothes but some home decor things.  I think I have an idea of how we can put together a sewing circle on the north side of Chicago.  I am working out the details, but I'd be happy to organize and plan one, if you ladies let me know what general days and times work for you.  Looking forward to meeting and sewing with all of you!

                          Amanda-
since no one else has taken the initiative to get back to you on dates, i'll start. i work in andersonville, so if a meet up is planned anywhere around there i am usually available by 5 on weeknights. if weekends were the chosen times, i have a preference to afternoons since i am usually committed in the mornings to watch my English soccer matches throughout the season....what can i say, priorities. the best days for me are typically mondays or tuesdays, but i could probably make just about any day work.

I'm actually in the near west burbs, and unlikely to travel for a get-together. However, I'd like to suggest perhaps a holiday sew along for the Chicago-area people? I've never done one before, but I'm eager to get started. (I started a new blog just for my crafting, so it'd be nice to have something to put up on it Smiley )

Hi! Just wondering if anything ever came of this, or if anyone else out there would be interested in starting something on the Northside. I'm a beginning quilter and would love to meet others with similar interests!
