Let me start by saying that I love this idea!  I'm relatively new to Portland and would love a chance to meet other local crafters.  Here's what my ideal sewing circle would look like:
    • Meet once a month
    • Each meeting would be hosted by a different member of the circle
    • That month's host would prepare a sewing tutorial for everyone to work on at the meeting (could be an original project, or a favorite tutorial from someone else)
    • Members would be emailed at least a week before the meeting with a materials list
    • Baked goods would be optional but more than welcome Smiley
As far as projects and skill levels go, it would be great to leave it relatively open, ranging from novice to advanced (after all, one of the best things about the sewing community is that there's always more we can learn from each other.) I see the types of projects for each month being ones that are easily started in a group setting, then - if necessary - can be finished at home before the next meeting.

Let me know what your ideas are and if you'd be interested in getting something going here in Portland!

      Allison,

What part of town are you in?  Maybe we can combine groups if there aren't enough takers for a Beaverton circle?

        Hello Allison!

I would love to join in. I also replied on the Beaverton group since they are small as well. I hope we can get a group together!

I'm also in portland, on the east side. Beaverton wouldn't be too convenient for me, but I could make it over there if we don't get something going over here.

Thanks for replying!  I'm on the Beaverton list, too, but it's  a tough location for me to get to on a weeknight.  I'm going to try to make it to the next Beaverton group meeting, but would still love to get something going here on the east side, too.  What days/times are convenient for you?  Did any of you see the post about Modern Domestic opening up soon at 14th and Alberta? http://www.boltneighborhood.com/2010/01/modern-domestic.html  We'd need to find an alternate location(s) in the meantime, but MD could be a great meet-up spot once they open.

I am in Vancouver WA and if you do start up an east side portland circle I would be interested.  That is not too far for me although I don't know if others will want to travel to my house for a meeting...I am sure I could find some place to meet over in PDX when it is my turn.

                Hi There
I'm in SE Portland and can probably get a few more folks on this side interested. Have you had any meetings yet?
