Let me start by saying that I love this idea! I'm relatively new to Portland and would love a chance to meet other local crafters. Here's what my ideal sewing circle would look like:
- Meet once a month
- Each meeting would be hosted by a different member of the circle
- That month's host would prepare a sewing tutorial for everyone to work on at the meeting (could be an original project, or a favorite tutorial from someone else)
- Members would be emailed at least a week before the meeting with a materials list
- Baked goods would be optional but more than welcome

As far as projects and skill levels go, it would be great to leave it relatively open, ranging from novice to advanced (after all, one of the best things about the sewing community is that there's always more we can learn from each other.) I see the types of projects for each month being ones that are easily started in a group setting, then - if necessary - can be finished at home before the next meeting.
Let me know what your ideas are and if you'd be interested in getting something going here in Portland!
