Hi!  I'm an Army wife, homemaker, and an 'Estian'!  We've recently moved for the THIRD time this past year!! Tongue  (Making it hard to develop solid friendships. Embarrassed)  I do quite a bit of sewing and handwork and would desperately love to make some sewing connections while in Virginia!!  We're stationed at Fort Lee which is about 20 minutes from Richmond.  Anyone interested in getting together (kids included Wink) for some good sewing and girly chatting?  Smiley

Hey Smiley I'm in Virginia, too! I live in Woodbridge about 3 hours distance from Richmond. I'm an ex-army wife lol. I know how hard it is to make friendship when you move around the world. But good to see someone at least in the same state! And one of my friends lives around Fort. lee. And my hubby works in Ft. Belvoir, he is now a contractor Smiley

It will be nice to meet somone tha thas same passion. So I will check it later again!

Yay!  How perfect!  Do you head this way often to visit?  Please let me know when you do.  I have a 2 y.o. little girl whom I love to sew for (clothes, quilts, etc), and I do a bit of crocheting and embroidery as well.  I always have a pile up of projects going at once, so I could meet up to work on any of them. Smiley  I was hoping to find a few people who would want to just meet up here and there and work on whatever suited them.

I also have a little shop on Etsy, BayouLand Babies. Smiley  It's been a fun little side venture.

We haven't explored Virginia much, so I'd be open to heading your way as well.  We're still getting settled in, but I'll send word when I think we might be up for road trip!

          Bayou mama,
I currently live in the Virginia Beach area. That's about 2 hours from Ft. Lee. My husband may or may not apply for a job transfer to Ft. Lee this spring (we haven't made the decision yet). I have 4 children. 12, 4, 2 and 6 months old. I've found it hard to find a group of women even remotely close to my age and with the same interests. I'm former Navy and understand how hard it is to form strong relationships and keep them while always on the move.

Right now my passion is sewing, of any kind. I've crocheted in the past and I am also trying my hand at embroidery. I have blog which I recently started and an ETSY shop which is fairly new as well. You can contact me through my blog.

I can't wait to see who else we meet here in the Southeast forum.

Yay!  Sewinspired!  I am also very excited to see who we can gather up in this area... the broad area of Virginia! haha

I just checked out your blog and it's super cute.  (I will contact you there a bit later.)  I'm currently working on my second quilt (it's under the machine as we 'speak'), so I'm still learning quite a bit... and loving it!  I sew mostly children's clothes, and you can check them out at:

p.s.  Are there any kid friendly activities/places to visit in Virginia Beach?  We're still learning our way around. Smiley

I am in Alexandria, VA and I am an active AF spouse.  I am learning to sew and want to meet people who get together and do projects so that I can learn more.  Hard to teach oneself...makes things go a lot slower.

Jeanette, I don't know what your schedule is like, but you are more than welcome to visit (Ft. Lee).  We could just sew sew sew until our hearts content!  (As long as you don't mind a 2y.o. dodging in and out rearranging things!)

I learned to sew as a girl... sort of.  My real knowledge of sewing has only come in the last couple of years so it's all still fresh in my head (clothing, machine quilting, machine appliques, etc).  I'd love to do a bit of learning with you and help making the learning curve a bit easier!  Let me know if you're interested.

p.s.  The same invitation goes for anyone else! Smiley  If you feel like heading to Ft. Lee, my sewing room and home are open to you!  I'm hoping to organize at least one get-together that's somewhat central for everyone in the next month or so.

Lanea, Jeanett you both are about 30-40mins distance from me! I used to live in Alexandria and moved out to Woodbrige last October Smiley I was an army spouse as well back then.
I live very close to Ptomac Mill right now. I love sewing, so we could just do sewing sewing sewing....sounds good!

Anyway if we all can manage time somehow we could get together anywhere.

I'm in Prince George, Virginia. My kids go to the same school as the kids from Ft. Lee so I guess that means I'm pretty close to you, lol!

I'm a knitter at heart but I did some major wrist damage and have to put my knitting passion on hold. I've decided to revisit my quilting obsession. Even though I've only ever made two quilts, this time around, I'm determined to get more done.

Liz!  Yes you are super duper close to us!  So fun!  Sorry I haven't logged in a bit.  I'm only on my 2nd quilt myself... and oh so unmotivated to finish it! lol  Tackling a queen sized quilt for #2 was very bold on my part.  We should get together!  What does this next week look like for you?  How old are your kiddos?  We're pretty open except for Wednesdays.

I'm in southwest Virginia, Tazewell County. Not much of a clothing sewer but do make quilts.
