    Help with ruffle apron tutorial
    on: February 28, 2010, 07:29:26 PM
I was reading it over and I wasn't completely sure of what it means when it tells me "Make a 1/4" hem by folding under 1/4" of the fabric and then folding over again, enclosing all raw edges of piece  "A", iron under 1/4" on all sides and stitch."

Am I only doing the hem on one side and the other 3 sides I only fold once before I sew?  Or do ALL sides need to be folded twice and sewn?

    Thanks!

Which apron tutorial are you referring to?

Going from just your quoted instructions, I would think that you are enclosing all sides in a hem and not just the bottom. Although, I'm not sure why you would need to do so. I guess if you could provide a picture or a link to the tutorial, it would help.

Hehe... I meant to include that, but forgot by the time I finished my post! Haha!  Here is the link http://morganmoore.typepad.com/one_more_moore/2007/02/valentine_tree__1.html

        Thanks!

Hmmm, that is a little confusing.

From what I can see in the photos and her instructions, I would hem the sides and bottom of piece A. The top of the apron is going to be encased in a band so I wouldn't worry about hemming or stitching that side at all.
Since the other sides will be exposed just like the bottom hem, I would sew a nice neat hem around all 3 sides and not just a single 1/4" seam.  Make sense?
